![]() Reminds me a lot of diving Gusts’ Ar Tonelico, except that each time you dive, you will have to enter a battle where you have to either defeat all enemies (including the girls’ shadows) or some type of objective, which can be a pain since the A.I. As you spend time with each girl, you learn more about them and their personalities, and eventually you won’t be able to advance until you “tune” them (essentially meaning you dive into their hearts to bring out the truth and make them stronger). You can unlock new skills, especially your witch characters. The game is split between missions and free time; during chapters, you are given some down time to search for items, take on side jobs for money (which are all done automatically) and are actually nearly irrelevant since you want to use all your free time to raise affection with all of your party members. However, due to Nonoka’s shyness, she wears a cardboard box over her head (which works pretty hilariously since one of her ninja skills allows her to attack an enemy and remain hidden from enemies for one turn). ![]() The most memorable is Nonoka, a shinobi wearing a very revealing outfit who normally gets teased by her master, the ‘Fire Witch’, for her unusually large bust size. Stella Glow’s story progression is pretty sluggish for the first half of the game: you meet some pretty unusual characters mixed in with your usual tropes. ![]() Alto and Risette are rescued and then given a task: to gather the other witches to break Hilda’s spell using the power of song. Alto then confronts Hilda only to lose, and in turn, awaken a hidden power inside of him called “tuning”, turning Risette into the “Witch of Water”. Hilda returns later, and with her song, starts causing villagers to turn into crystals. One day, after hearing a mysterious song, Alto meets Hilda (who is known as “The Witch of Disaster”) and warns him to leave his village. ![]() The story is pretty simplistic and very cliché, focusing on a young boy named Alto who has no memories of his past (surprised?) and is living a peaceful life with the family who took him in after being discovered by Risette a year and a half prior. While the game probably won’t be on anyone’s top game of the year list for the Nintendo 3DS, it’s a very solid title as Imageepoch went back to their roots to release a very enjoyable game that features a few different mechanics that keeps the game entertaining including some fan service. I have to say it’s not a bad way to go out. Stella Glow is Japanese Developer Imageepoch’s final video game release after filing for bankruptcy earlier this year. ![]()
